June Top 10
Actually doing this two months in a row—go me!
Here’s what’s on my June Top 10!
A/N: Don’t forget! I’m currently offering 20% off lifetime subscriptions from now until June 30th. Upgrade here.
Ann Mashburn: If I could just shop at one store for the rest of my life it would be Ann Mashburn. I’ve been shopping with the brand since they were just Sid’s and I was buying men’s shirts for me… now my husband and I both have wardrobes packed to bursting with Mashburn favorites. (I just wish they’d bring Kid Mashburn back so we could deck out the whole family!) My summer uniform has been so heavily Mashburn-focused this year, with my favorite sandals and two great dresses as really solid yet chic showponies for the summer. These are pieces I’ll have forever.
Vintner’s Daughter travel size!: I’m a minimalist when it comes to beauty products but Vintner’s Daughter are my desert island products—they really are that good. I always say that the active botanical serum will make me look like I’ve had twelve hours of perfect sleep and a salad for dinner when in reality I was up five times in the night after eating burgers. Their newly reformulated cleanser is FABULOUS, and the whole kit and caboodle now comes in travel size, perfect for hopping on a plane, carry-on only.
Getting rid of stuff: This was a BIG one this year—as I’ve shared, we’re moving, and we really took this time to shed a lot of what we’ve been carrying, particularly things that are no longer serving us. The sheer RELIEF we felt when we packed up things for donations and loaded up a dumpster… but also it was kind of gross. There is so much consumption in this world, and a lot of it really isn’t necessary. Time to take stock seriously, and cut the ties to companies like Amazon, which exist really only to sell more more more.
Canceling my Prime subscription and switching to Grove Co.: I wrote about this recently, but I have now canceled my Prime subscription and will no longer be shopping online at Amazon. It was scary but a great feeling at the same time. Grove Co. has been fabulous so far because they really have everything I need (except Bounty paper towels—I’ll get those at the grocery store). I’m particularly loving the Unplastic Shop so I can finally kick single-use plastics mostly to the curb. Definitely getting these glass food storage containers to start with, along with so much else (in a sensible, reusable way!) You can get 50% off your membership for your first year (so it’s $14.99!) with VIP50—I did :)
More unplastics: As mentioned above, now that I’m in my Boulder-hippie stage, one of the things I'm doing as we pack up to move is getting rid of EVERYTHING in the kitchen that is actually bad (i.e. most things that are plastic...) I have been using this cutting board for a year now and am ordering another. Material Kitchen does a great job with accessible, simply-designed pieces that do exactly what they are supposed to do in a really good way. I also love their knives. And I have a code for 25% off which I'm making heavy use of personally: FABMATERIAL.
Rifle Paper Co. summer collection: It’s SO good, guys. I love the prints, the lobsters, the melamine plates and platter, it’s just practically perfect in every way. Iconic summer!
Quick and easy meals + cocktail hour: I’m trying to resist the siren call of fast food (the only dining in our current area) by relying on quick things that I always have at home. Fishwife is a longtime favorite of ours and they JUST sent over a box for us to try some of their new flavors—this is the sort of opportunity I just don’t need to think about! Beyond being delicious, they’re women-owned AND have the best design; we were laughing over the drawing on the can of smoked salmon with chili crisp. Incidentally, that tastes AMAZING on fresh sourdough bread, sliced tomatoes, and a drizzle of olive oil. Ideal girl dinner. (Particularly when paired with a cocktail or as above a Shirley Temple!)
Ice cream outside: Dear friends of ours took us to dinner as a goodbye and we had ice cream outdoors on the water. Nothing better than that, particularly when barefoot in the sand.
My summer motto:
Salt & Stone: I am really trying to cut bad chemicals etc. out of my routine (not in a MAHA way obviously, but in a sensible, Boulder-hippie way); I’ve switched to Salt & Stone as a natural deodorant, and boy do I feel awkward writing about that on the internet! That being said, it really is that good, and the new lily & yuzu scent is phenomenal.
