Three Recent Outfits
It's been a while!
Okay, we survived! In case you missed it, New York and the rest of the northeast had one of the biggest blizzards in recent memory, even larger than the one we just had earlier (which itself was the most snow I’d seen in this part of the world since I was a child).
I’m deeply impressed with the snow getting cleared off the streets so quickly, and especially with how fast the sidewalks were cleared in Manhattan—good things are happening!
It was restful to take this time to relax at home, particularly as I actually meal planned and got up early on the Saturday to make sure we had enough food for a week. We’ve now had a couple warm days, so the snow is rapidly melting, and now I’m beyond ready for spring.
Here’s what I wore during…
Immediately pre-blizzard
Kilte Collection sweater* | With Nothing Underneath shirt* | Frame jeans* (15% off with FEWER15) | March Hare watch* (20% off with FEWERBETTER20) | Aurate earrings* (20% off with FEWERANDBETTER20) | Beckett Simonon boots
I did the school pickup and stopped by the bookstore with my little one before we headed to a friend’s birthday party. It was the day before the snowstorm and it was pretty warm, so I was desperate to wear this new shirt that the team at With Nothing Underneath sent me. I’m OBSESSED with their shirts, which I’ve written about ad nauseum. This is the boyfriend style in their “fine poplin,” which is the type of poplin that feels like silk and DOES NOT WRINKLE the way the cheap stuff does. It’s dreamy. I took my usual size, and this has a great long tail so I can wear this with leggings or my kick flares without worrying, though it also tucks in easily. I loved this outfit combination and I look forward to wearing it throughout the spring as well (though with LOAFERS if the snow ever melts!)
Blizzard Day 1
Cardigan (similar) | Waffle tee | Donni pants | Viani Milano slippers | Chappywrap blanket
I actually started reading a real book again—I find myself defaulting to ebooks too much lately. It was a joy to pick up The Enigma of Dame Muriel again, an impressive work that delves into the details and connections that Muriel Spark wove into her writing. Muriel Spark has long been my favorite author and this book has given me so much more appreciation for her work.
I have to say that Chappywrap blankets are regrettably worth the hype—regrettably because you CANNOT stop at one. We have four and they’re constantly fought over. The team at Chappywrap kindly sent me this one after I mentioned to them that my favorite one has been stolen repeatedly by other members of my family. I haven’t let them near it!
Post-Blizzard
Barbour Bedale | Aran turtleneck (from Ireland, similar) | Waffle tee | Frame jeans* (15% off with FEWER15) | Scarf from Merryn Kemp! | Hunter wellies | Mittens
AS YOU CAN SEE, this snow was literally insanity. I had to wear my highest boots and they were still covered. I also have to say that I own approximately zero snow gear despite going to college in Colorado. I was woefully unprepared! I did not include the day we went snow tubing and I wore my foul-weather gear because that’s all I owned. I need to get it in gear, literally… maybe next winter!
This is actually NOT snow gear despite my believe it would work because 1) it was lined with fleece and 2) it’s waterproof. Nope.
Stay warm, everyone!
