Three Recent Outfits
aaand we're back!
It’s been a while since I actually wore something other that what I hastily packed in my moving bag but here! we! are! actually wearing clothes. Still adjusting to having an actual full-length mirror to take pictures in front of so please drop any tips and tricks in looking like a semi-normal human being instead of however I’m looking here. In any case I loved these outfits and wanted to share them!
Let’s start off with a few things: 1) we don’t wear shoes in the house so none of these photographs have the appropriate shoes pictured—I need to work on this. And 2) I don’t love the carpet, obviously, but we’re here for a year so it is what it is.
My mother’s vintage linen Brooks Brothers safari shirt (similar) | White jeans* | Belt | March Hare watch* (20% off with FEWERBETTER20) | Ann Mashburn driving mocs (not pictured)
OK! So I was really excited to find this shirt of my mother’s when I was going through my storage tubs in the basement. It’s a fabulous old Brooks Brothers safari shirt that I remember her wearing with a long madras skirt (also need to find this…) it’s wildly amazing and so comfortable and flattering in the heat. I’m planning to wear this a lot more this summer, including with this equally fabulous skirt that the Mashburn team sent me this month. It’s described as “A little Joan Didion Malibu days... a little flea market chic” which is essentially how I want to live my summers, at least. Can’t wait to wear it!
Organic Basics tee* (10% off with FEWERBETTER10) | Frame jeans (15% off with FEWER15) | Belt | March Hare watch* (20% off with FEWERBETTER20) | Ann Mashburn driving mocs (not pictured)
It has been H O T and I’ve also been trying to be a bit more casual instead of falling into the ostentatiously preppy wardrobe of my 20s here in this same city. Hence jeans and a tee. I’m not a big fan of the white tee actually because they are so often see-through, so I find myself defaulting to blue (which is my default color anyway). This one from Organic Basics is GREAT. It’s super light and boxy and loose, making it perfect for really hot days. If you want a more fitted look the true regular tee is also great.
My husband’s old madras shirt (similar) | Frame jeans (15% off with FEWER15) | Belt | March Hare watch* (20% off with FEWERBETTER20) | Ann Mashburn driving mocs (not pictured)
I met a dear friend for lunch yesterday and loved pulling on this old madras shirt with jeans to stay cool yet comfortable when walking over to meet her and to eat outside. I love living in a city again! Pro tip when wearing men’s shirts—size UP to get the best oversized look.
