It’s no secret that I love Ann Mashburn—I’ve been shopping the brand since a month after they opened, and it’s truly one of the top thrills of writing this newsletter that I get to share how much I love their clothes! The Ann Mashburn sale happens only twice a year, and it’s a great one, including many of my favorite pieces. I’ve pulled together a list of my top 30 picks, which you can find here. I wanted to highlight five of my favorite pieces from the sale below.
With my mother’s vintage Hermès scarf—read more about it here
I have used this wallet every day for years—it’s such a great piece. The wallet is sizable enough to fit everything you could possibly need, plus about a year’s worth of receipts, without looking overstuffed. The leather is extremely high quality and so is the zipper. This piece has been shoved into every single bag that I’ve owned, including beach bags, city bags, and travel bags, and has only gotten better with age.
Worn with my mother’s old Barbour, a favorite La Ligne sweater, and great khakis
I wear these driving mocs nonstop in the spring and fall. They’re precisely the right note of seventies prep that works so well with the rest of my wardrobe. These are so well-crafted and are comfortable right out of the box. I love the blue suede option; brightly-colored shoes are my weakness.
The boyfriend shirt was my second-ever purchase from Ann Mashburn (the first being the boxpleat skirt; I wish they’d bring it back!) I’ve worn it regularly since. Mine has held up so well to being crushed into a beach bag, worn into the city, carried around the world as a coverup, and more. It’s the perfect fitted-yet-oversized shirt. The grey-white stripe is the perfect neutral.
The pleated wrap skirt is the only piece you’ll need for black tie attire—simply pair with a new blouse or top for a completely different look for any event. I can’t wait to break mine out multiple times this fall!
Worn with my March Hare watch and my vintage Kelly (read more here)
This classic shirtwaist dress is another great seventies-prep piece, particularly in madras (my pattern of the summer). I love how ladylike this is without being too fussy, and I’ve come up with multiple excuses to wear it, from afternoon tea in Manhattan to hosting Easter at our house.
